Growing Pains

Due to my vertical limitations growing pains were not really something I experienced a lot of.  I have often looked at my much taller family and wondered why I am so much shorter than them. I can only recall one time that I woke up in the middle of the night crying about my legs aching so bad.  Lets be honest I have been this height since about 6th grade, so its hard for me to really grasp the physical experience of true growing pains.

The phrase, "Its just growing pains", for some reason has been discussed quite a bit in my life be it through work, church or life in general.  This phrase is typically followed by a sigh and a long glance.  But what if growing pains didn't have to have that sort of negative connotation.  What if it meant that we have the opportunity to be transformed into something we could not imagine.

Just like the physical pains of actually growing taller have a result so do the, "pains" of growing in your professional, personal or spiritual life.  Instead of being depressed or disheartened by the discomforts and toils of our transformation.  We should be excited that we have the opportunity to have growing pains so that we can remember where we started and what were brought to.

Obviously its going to be hard to remember when you are trudging through the thick of whatever type of growing pain you are going through.  Its even harder when you are a person like my that typically runs 100 miles an hour away from any sort of change.  If we are not praying or seeking for ways to grow we wont experience those pains that transform us into where we need to be.

I hope that whatever growing pains you are growing through, physical, emotional, spiritual we can encourage one another to look forward to be changed!
